Our Story

Bringing Regional Honey
Closer to You

Oklahoma Honey was built around a simple idea: people should
have the opportunity to enjoy good honey while knowing more
about where that honey comes from.

Rather than relying on a distant, anonymous source, we work
with beekeepers throughout Oklahoma and with select
beekeepers in Missouri and Arkansas. Their bees gather
nectar from the plants and flowers available in their
respective regions, creating honey that reflects where it
was produced.

We then make that honey available to people who want to buy
it for their homes, while also supplying select retailers
who want to offer regional honey to their customers.

🐝

Our Business Is About Connection

We connect beekeepers and their honey with customers and
retailers who appreciate knowing more about the source of
the honey they buy.

Transparency Matters

We Want You to Know
What We Actually Do

We’re straightforward about our business. We are not claiming
that every jar of honey we sell comes from hives that we
personally own. Instead, we work with beekeepers and source
honey from the region.

Our role is to help bring good regional honey from beekeepers
to the people who want to enjoy it.

That includes customers who want to purchase honey for their
families and households, as well as stores and retailers that
want to offer honey to their own customers.

We believe being honest about where our honey comes from is
important. That’s why we are proud to explain our sourcing
rather than make claims that don’t accurately describe our
business.

Our Sourcing Region

Honey From
Our Part of the Country

Most importantly, our honey story begins with the beekeepers
who produce it. We source honey from Oklahoma and also work
with select regional beekeepers in Missouri and Arkansas.

🌾

Oklahoma

Oklahoma is at the heart of our business. We source honey
from beekeepers throughout the state.

🌿

Missouri

We also source honey from select beekeepers in Missouri,
giving us access to another nearby regional source.

🌻

Arkansas

Some of our honey also comes from beekeepers in Arkansas,
another state within our regional sourcing area.

Why Location Matters

Bees Gather Nectar From
Their Surroundings

Honey begins with the plants and flowers where bees forage.
Because different regions have different climates,
landscapes, and flowering plants, the geographic source of
honey is part of its story.

That’s one reason we focus on Oklahoma and nearby states.
When someone in Oklahoma is looking for local or regional
honey, we believe it makes sense to look at honey produced
by bees working in this part of the country.

We aren’t interested in pretending that all honey is the
same. Where bees forage can be an important part of the
story behind the honey you enjoy.

Why Not Honey From Anywhere?

A jar of honey sourced from thousands of miles away may
still be honey, but it doesn’t represent the same regional
environment as honey produced here.

For customers who specifically want local or regional
honey, the source matters.

Working With Beekeepers

The Honey Starts
With the Bees

Behind every batch of honey we source is a beekeeper and the
bees that produced it. We value the work that goes into caring
for hives and bringing honey out of the comb.

Beekeeping is a hands-on process. The beekeeper manages the
hives, monitors the colonies, and eventually harvests honey
from the frames and comb.

We work with beekeepers who don’t necessarily want to take on
all of the work involved in extracting and preparing honey for
the final customer. This creates an opportunity for us to help
bring that honey to market.

It’s a relationship that allows the beekeeper to focus on the
bees and the hives while we help make the honey available to
consumers and retailers.

Our Approach to Raw Honey

Strained to Remove
Unwanted Material

When honey comes from the beekeeper, it may contain pieces
of wax and other physical material from the comb. Before
honey reaches the customer, that material needs to be
removed.

Our honey is strained to remove unwanted physical material.
It is not ultra-fine filtered to the point where naturally
occurring fine particles are removed.

We also handle our honey as raw honey and do not heat it
above 120°F.

Straining vs. Ultra-Fine Filtration

Straining removes larger unwanted particles while allowing
honey to retain naturally occurring fine particles.

We believe this is an important distinction for customers
who specifically seek raw honey.

For Our Customers

Honey for
Your Home

Most of our business is retail. We sell honey directly to
people who want to bring raw, regionally sourced honey into
their own homes.

Buy Directly

Customers can contact us directly to ask about available
honey and purchasing options.

Ask Questions

We want customers to feel comfortable asking questions
about our sourcing, raw honey, and how our honey is handled.

Know Your Source

We believe knowing where honey comes from is an important
part of choosing the honey you buy.

For Retailers

We Also Supply
Select Stores

While retail customers make up most of our business, we
also sell honey wholesale to select stores and retailers.

If you own a grocery store, specialty food store, natural
food store, or another retail business and are interested
in carrying our honey, we’d be happy to discuss wholesale
opportunities.

🍯
What We Believe

Good Honey Deserves
a Good Story

We believe customers should be able to ask where their honey comes
from, how it was handled, and who produced it.

We believe regional honey is worth seeking out.

And we believe that being honest about our role in bringing honey
from beekeepers to customers is simply the right thing to do.
